This was a very enjoyable cookbook full of elementary, everyday Japanese recipes. The author is quite popular in Japan with books, magazines, clothing, and house- and cookware. There are plenty of photographs; every recipes gets at least 1.

No desserts, but I didn't find myself missing them. Included are closet essentials (incl. some sauce recipes), plus (I think) US/Canada-axial stockists at the end. This book was worked on in London, so this book has Western readers in mind, no doubt nigh that :) The focus is on quality, and keeping the seasons in mind.

Some of my favorite recipes hither (no seafood included hither since I avoid them mostly): Deep-fried chicken with leek sauce, mini-craven fillets with mayonnaise, simmered pork in crepes, ginger pork, onigiri rice balls with footing chicken, cold soba noodles with grated daikon, tofu salad with sesame dressing, tofu with crunchy toppings, miso soup with potato and onion, watercress with lite peanut dressing, sauted leeks and mushrooms.

All recipes wait easy with calm, clear layout and good introduction to each recipe. I think this is very much worth owning, a skillful Japanese cookbook. :)

When I was younger I worked for a Japanese company for a number of years and then grew to love Japanese nutrient. When I was younger I worked for a Japanese visitor for a number of years and and so grew to love Japanese food. Harumi Kurihara is titled, "Nihon'southward answer to Delia Smith," and she compares to Delia, in that her recipes are as easy to follow. Kickoff and foremost, this is a well designed paperback, which is nicely laid out, with skillful colour photographs and a listing of useful addresses at the back of the volume to find everything you volition demand to cook the recipes in this book.

The volume begins with an interesting introduction, shop cupboard essentials that you need to start with and so a list of recipes. Most of these recipes are very easy to cook – lite, full of flavour and very salubrious. The author walks yous through the recipes and also adds lots of niggling personal comments, which brand this fun to read, as well as cook from. A neat add-on to my shelf of cookbooks – I absolutely dear this.

This is one of the best Japanese cooking books if y'all are looking for simple dwelling house nutrient. If you lot are looking for famous Japanese nutrient recipes, street foods, fast foods etc this is not the right cook volume for you. As well the pictures are but then-so. This is not i of those basic cook books I'd recommend for those who inappreciably know anything about Japanese kitchen and foods. Recipes seem pretty authentic and taste like food in Japan (no westernized stuff).

This is one of the all-time Japanese cooking books if you lot are looking for simple dwelling food. If you are looking for famous Japanese food recipes, street foods, fast foods etc this is not the correct cook book for you. Besides the pictures are just so-so. This is not i of those basic melt books I'd recommend for those who hardly know anything about Japanese kitchen and foods. Recipes seem pretty authentic and taste like food in Japan (no westernized stuff).

I, for one time, am tired of the same quondam street nutrient recipe books. Harumi offers simple but tasty, homely fare recipes. In that location are foods from dissimilar categories so information technology is easy to build a tasty meal past combining. Recipes are by and large pretty simple simply involve a lot of cutting and julienning.

There are some vegan recipes and lots of vegetarian recipes.

Some recipes that I have tried were nice, but I found some of them not worth the attempt (after having made them). The introduction about the different ingredients was useful. For someone trying to get more in depth knowledge nearly cooking and the Japanese cuisine, I was dissapointed by this book. The volume boils down to an introduction ('my hubby really loves this dish etc. etc.') followed by the steps necessary to get in. In retrospect I would have spent my coin elsewhere.

This volume is nothing

This book is zero compared to a book like Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art. It's not a bad volume, but I don't relate with the hyped reviews this book got.

I like to cook Japanese food every day and then I had read some books written by Harumi. It is frequently non like shooting fish in a barrel to melt Japanese nutrient but information technology is very delicous to eat Japanese food for adlults or children.
I recall that it is a elementary cooking book so it is good for someone to cook Japanese unproblematic foods.

Will requite a star rating when I've made some of the recipes, but this volume seems to be only the introduction to Japanese-style home cooking I was looking for: piece of cake recipes with simple ingredients. Definitely going to suspension out the mandoline, though, every bit I take neither the knife skill nor the patience for finely julienning so many vegetables! Very instructive cookery book with cute photography and like shooting fish in a barrel to follow recipes. A good introduction in Japanese cuisine beyond sushi, yakitori and the like for everyday dishes or for a little party. The recipes are all designed around ingredients y'all can, reasonably easy, detect in Kingdom of belgium and I suppose by extension in Europe.
I fabricated quite a few of them and all where very succulent.

One of the least appetizing books on Japanese foods that I've come beyond.
This is 'meat and potatoes' Japanese cooking, and the recipes contain a tiresome repetition of flavorings. Besides, if yous take issues with common salt or soy allergies, forget it. There's soy sauce in almost every recipe.
